lessons catered to you

I not only teach the mechanics and knowledge necessary to play and write music on the guitar, but I also do my best to share the joy and outlet for creative expression that the instrument has brought me for 15 years. Students learn more quickly when they are having fun with the education process. That is why we will learn techniques and theory that allow you to better perform and understand the music that YOU want to play.

Our first lesson will mostly be a diagnostic where we explore:

• Your experience level with the guitar (don't worry if you have none!)

• What your goals are with the instrument

• What bands and musicians you listen to, and what guitar styles you want to learn how to play

From there, we will cater lessons to get you playing the music you want to be able to play. We will structure each lesson in a way where we will learn some nuts and bolts of guitar playing (basic mechanics, strengthening exercises, music theory 101, etc.), then end by learning pieces of music that you like to listen to where those particular nuts and bolts are applied. This way, you can have fun playing your favorite songs as you become a better guitar player!

Location

I have locations in Brookline, MA and Walpole, MA where I hold lessons. If you are in southern MA or outside of Boston, then I can come to your location as well.

Modernized teaching

All of my students share an online folder with me, where I will upload all of the exercises and pieces of music that we have been working on together. You will also be able to check in on what you should be practicing each week in that same folder.

Genres of music

I specialize in music within the realms of rock, blues, metal, and pop.  I can teach beginner guitar lessons in any genre, but I prefer to teach my advanced lessons within those listed.
